We were approached by an ambitious entrepreneur with a simple brief:
introduce flavoured buffalo wings to the UK.
"But buffalos don’t have wings" we said...
Once a strategy had been developed and research completed,
we set to work on creating the perfect name. From countless words and endless
possibilities, 12 were shortlisted. Along with responses and reactions from a
carefully selected focus group, the names were presented to the client.
There was one resounding winner: WingZing.
Our research revealed that the WingZing brand would benefit greatly from an
association with a distinctive character; a chicken with a difference.
We grabbed our pencils and went clucking crazy, producing hundreds of illustrations.
The chosen character, with its unique and recognisable appearance, appealed to the target market,
and succeeded in distinguishing the brand from its nearest competitors.
What made WingZing unique was the huge variety of tasty sauces it offered
its customers.
With this in mind, a key part of our proposal was the decision to
make the sauce the hero.
To give prominence to the sauce and produce greater visual impact, each onr
was depicted in its very own brightly branded bottle, emphasised by a minimal use
of surrounding colour.
"I have had tremendous success with WingZing since opening, thanks largely to the
well executed design.
People are impressed with the brand, and since opening we have had numerous requests
to open in further locations. There has also been much interest in franchising the
business which we'll be considering in the not too distant future."
